Parrots, Feng Shui and the Dominican Flag

Gemstone Parrot
The other day, somebody sent me pictures of several animal statues (turtle, elephant, frog, lion, rabbit etc.). They were all lovely and made from very interesting crystals but it was the last – a parrot – that really caught my eye. Since then, I have been thinking about parrots and what they symbolize. So, I did some research and found the following information:

In Chinese culture, for hundreds of years the parrot has held a place of honor in ancient China. Often kept in the living quarters of women, parrots were considered the keeper of their secrets. Throughout the years parrots have come to symbolize several different things in the Chinese culture:
  • Traditionally parrots, and other birds, symbolized freedom and long life. A parallel is often drawn between a bird and the life experience and wisdom that comes with old age.
  • A pair of parrots symbolizes affection, fidelity and deep, enduring love – what we call “lovebirds” today.
  • Parrots are also associated with feng shui. According to feng shui, parrots symbolize positive energy. These birds are considered as bearers of good news and it is also said that the feathers of parrots possess different colors that represent the five elements of feng shui - water, wood, fire, earth and metal.
The flag of Dominica has a parrot at its center, symbolizing the flight to greater heights of fulfillment of the aspirations of the people.

In Native American tribal animal symbolism, parrots are considered messengers of specific prayers and can bestow blessings. I'm reading a book by Ken Carey (author of The Starseed Transmissions) right now called "The Return of the Bird Tribes" which is an account of the spiritual history of several Native American tribes. The "bird tribes" are closely connected to the angels and the Eternal Light. Birds, with their wings and ability to bridge heaven and earth stand for messengers from Source.

  3. If your home office is full of creative and dream-inducing objects or colors, Feng Shui may ask you to get rid of them (at least some of them) and introduce in their place more vibrant colors that will help you get in the right spirit to do some work and be enthusiastic Feng Shui 2019.
